Dubai to Host Design Miami’s First Permanent Middle East Edition Through Alserkal Partnership

By Noura Hamed

· Art News

Dubai is set to welcome a major new chapter in the world of collectible design. Alserkal has announced a long-term partnership with Design Miami, bringing the globally known design fair to the Middle East for the first time with a permanent platform. The new initiative will launch in Dubai in early 2027 and will feature a flagship exhibition alongside a year-round programme of commissions, talks, and designer-led projects across the region.

For years, Design Miami has been recognised as an important platform for collectible design, with strong editions in cities like Miami and Paris. Its arrival in Dubai marks a strategic expansion into a region that is increasingly shaping global conversations around art, design, and culture. The partnership reflects a shared vision between the two institutions to connect international design networks with the creative energy of the Middle East.

Alserkal, founded by Abdulmonem Bin Eisa Alserkal, has spent over 15 years building Dubai’s creative ecosystem. From transforming Alserkal Avenue into one of the Gulf’s most active arts districts to supporting experimental and regional cultural initiatives, Alserkal has played a key role in shaping the city’s contemporary art landscape. This new collaboration builds naturally on that foundation.

According to Alserkal, the partnership is of global significance, connecting Dubai with Design Miami’s established platforms and creating a powerful international network. Leadership at Design Miami has also expressed strong enthusiasm, noting that Dubai has become an important crossroads for global design, where heritage and innovation meet.

With this move, Dubai further strengthens its position as a hub for contemporary design and cultural exchange. The new platform is expected to attract collectors, designers, and creative thinkers from around the world, while also highlighting the region’s own craftsmanship and design talent. More details about the inaugural edition will be announced in the coming months, but the partnership already signals an important milestone for both Alserkal and Design Miami, and for the future of design in the Middle East.
