Abu Dhabi: Abu Dhabi reaffirmed its global cultural stature as His Highness Sheikh Khaled bin Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi and Chairman of the Abu Dhabi Executive Council, officially inaugurated the 17th edition of Abu Dhabi Art. Organised by the Department of Culture and Tourism – Abu Dhabi (DCT Abu Dhabi), the fair is taking place at Manarat Al Saadiyat and runs until 23 November 2025.

This year’s edition marks a significant milestone, showcasing the fair’s expanding reach and influence. Bringing together 142 galleries from 34 countries, including 53 first-time participants, Abu Dhabi Art continues to be a vital platform uniting global artistic voices. During his tour, Sheikh Khaled viewed an impressive selection of contemporary artworks, large-scale sculptures, and innovative projects presented by leading institutions and galleries from across the world.
His Highness emphasised the importance of the fair in strengthening Abu Dhabi’s cultural landscape, noting that Abu Dhabi Art plays an essential role in advancing the emirate’s vision for a vibrant and inclusive cultural future. By spotlighting creative talent and enabling cross-cultural dialogue, the fair supports ongoing efforts to position Abu Dhabi as a global hub for arts, creativity, and cultural innovation.

Speaking on the occasion, Mohamed Khalifa Al Mubarak, Chairman of DCT Abu Dhabi, highlighted the fair’s growing global significance: “Abu Dhabi Art serves as a statement of Abu Dhabi’s growing influence as a global cultural capital. Increasing in global reach year by year, the annual fair empowers artists, strengthens the creative economy, and helps shape a future where art and culture inspire progress, innovation and exchange.”
The inauguration was attended by prominent cultural and government leaders, underscoring the national significance of the fair. Distinguished guests included Dr Anwar Mohammed Gargash, Zaki Anwar Nusseibeh, Abdulrahman bin Mohammed Al Owais, Khaldoon Khalifa Al Mubarak, Mohamed Khalifa Al Mubarak, Mohammed Ahmed Al Murr, Saif Saeed Ghobash, and Saood Abdulaziz Al Hosani.

The strong international participation this year reflects Abu Dhabi’s long-term, strategic investments in the cultural and creative sectors. These efforts continue to enhance the emirate’s artistic ecosystem, broaden opportunities for cultural exchange, and create new avenues for local and international artists alike.
