Luxembourg: The 12th edition of Luxembourg’s leading contemporary art fair will take place from 20–22 November 2026, preceded by a VIP & PRO Day on 19 November at Champ du Glacis. Luxembourg Art Week returns this November for its 12th edition, bringing together 78 exhibitors from 15 countries for one of the Grand Duchy’s most significant annual gatherings of contemporary art.
The 2026 edition follows a strong year for the fair. Luxembourg Art Week reported approximately 17,000 visitors and 77 exhibitors in 2025, reflecting its growing position within the European contemporary art calendar. The programme comprises a Main Section, presenting established galleries, alongside Take Off, a platform providing visibility to emerging galleries and alternative exhibition models. According to information released for the 2026 edition, 57 exhibitors will participate in the Main Section, while 21 will form part of Take Off.
International participation represents approximately 78% of the exhibitor line-up, while Luxembourg itself will be represented by 17 exhibitors. The edition also introduces 22 first-time participants, bringing new perspectives and artistic programmes into the fair. Participating galleries and organisations span Luxembourg and numerous international art centres, with representation extending across countries including France, Belgium, Germany, Spain, Switzerland, the United States and Japan. The exhibitor list encompasses internationally active galleries alongside regional spaces, artist-led initiatives and cultural organisations, continuing Luxembourg Art Week’s commitment to combining established practices with emerging voices.
A major highlight of the 2026 edition is Focus Photo, placing contemporary photography at the heart of this year’s programme. Presented every other year, the fair’s Focus initiative alternates between highlighting the contemporary art scene of a guest city and examining a particular artistic theme. Following the presentation of a delegation from Montréal in 2025, Luxembourg Art Week turns its attention this year to photography and its continually evolving position within contemporary art. Rather than approaching photography as a single discipline, 'Focus Photo' has been structured to acknowledge the diverse ways galleries incorporate the medium into their programmes.
Galleries specialising in photography or those for whom photography represents a substantial part of their artistic identity will have the opportunity to dedicate their entire booth to photographic practices. Meanwhile, galleries with multidisciplinary programmes will present one or two photographers through specially focused walls incorporated into their wider stands. The format creates a dialogue between dedicated photographic programmes and photography positioned alongside painting, sculpture, installation and other contemporary practices. From documentary approaches and conceptual image-making to experimental and expanded photographic practices, the initiative is expected to demonstrate how artists continue to reconsider photography in an era profoundly shaped by digital technologies and image culture. At the same time, Focus Photo aims to encourage greater engagement with 'photography as a collectible medium', introducing both experienced and emerging collectors to the breadth of contemporary photographic practice.
Exhibitors for Luxembourg Art Week 2026 were selected by an international committee bringing together gallery professionals, curators, collectors and art historians. The selection committee includes Clémence Boisanté, Director of Ceysson & Bénétière; Audrey Bossuyt, Co-Founder of Zidoun-Bossuyt Gallery; Marie-Noëlle Farcy, Curator and Head of Collection at Mudam Luxembourg; collector Luc Haenen; art historian and former Deutsche Bank Collection Senior Curator Claudia Schicktanz; and Guillaume Smets, Founder of Stems Gallery. Their selection reflects Luxembourg Art Week’s broader ambition to maintain a balance between international reach, curatorial quality and opportunities for younger or less conventional art spaces.
Luxembourg Art Week extends beyond the traditional art-fair model. Its wider cultural programme has historically incorporated art talks, performances, public projects and a sculpture trail, creating connections between the temporary fair venue and Luxembourg City’s broader cultural landscape. The fair also works closely with regional museums, cultural organisations and institutions, supported by Luxembourg’s Ministry of Culture and the City of Luxembourg. This collaborative approach is central to the fair’s identity. Rather than positioning the commercial art fair in isolation, Luxembourg Art Week seeks to connect galleries and collectors with museums, art centres, artist collectives and wider cultural and economic stakeholders.
